AfricArena 2021 Grand Summit
AfricArena hosted its fifth annual Summit in Cape Town at the Old Biscuit Mill, gathering 40+ startups, 60+ investors and 200+ ecosystem actors from all over the continent.
AfricArena, which provides open innovation challenges, research and dealflow services to help accelerate the work of founders, investors and corporates, hosted its fifth annual Summit on 16 - 17 November in Cape Town - and was preceded by its Founders’ Bootcamp and VC Unconference Weekends, attended by 60 high level international investors and 40 startups from 15 African countries, as well as the elite of the continent’s ecosystem builders.
During the Grand Summit major announcements took place, including the new partnership between AfricArena, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Double Feather Partners to bridge the Japanese and African tech-ecosystems. Other announcements included the amplification of the AfricArena Vivatech partnership; a $42-million Series B raise by AfricArena 2017 alumnus and French Tech Board Member, Ozow; and nine startups and one VC firm won awards in various categories.
This event was hosted with premium partners. These include Double Feather Partners, JICA, VivaTech, La French Tech, AWS, ITC, Saint Gobain, Technology Innovation Agency, Methys, City of Cape Town, Wesgro, Edge Growth, Specno and several major investment networks such as SAVCA, EAVCA, and AVCA.
